Santiago League Round 3 of Semi-Finals. Cupes and CPN reach Finals

Cupes - GUG 119-118

Cupes overcame GUG to secure the Finals berth. Cupes forced 26 GUG turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cupes made 7 blocks. 28 personal fouls committed by GUG helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for forward Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95) contributed with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals for the winners. American Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas, agency: Best of You Sports) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 6 assists and forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) added 19 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for GUG. Four Cupes and five GUG players scored in double figures. GUG's coach Manuel Liranzo tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help.

CPN - CDP 103-99

CPN outscored CDP and advanced into the championship series. Strangely CDP outrebounded CPN 41-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. CDP was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American Ramon Galloway (190-91, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Victor Liz (193-86) helped adding 36 points (!!!). CPN's coach Victor Pena allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: EWU) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
